// Catatumbo

This coffee comes from the Catatumbo Coffee Growers' Cooperative in Norte de Santander, a region in Colombia's northeast along the Venezuelan border. Norte de Santander is the site of the country's first commercial coffee plantations and was once the heart of Colombian coffee, giving it one of the deepest growing traditions in the country. The cooperative was founded in 1980 and today brings together around 2,400 producers across 25 municipalities, who collectively grow close to half of the region's coffee. Many of its members are third- and fourth-generation farmers working small plots at mid-range elevations, cultivating varieties like Castillo alongside Bourbon, Tabi, and others.
