Most wholesale coffee in South Florida is bought green on the open market and roasted stateside. Musa's core lot is different: it is grown and milled at Finca La Montaña, the family estate in La Mesa, Cundinamarca, at roughly 1,800 metres (about 5,900 ft) above sea level, then roasted in Tolima before shipping to wholesale customers in the United States.

Owning the estate changes what a cafe can count on. The variety, the altitude and the process are fixed and known rather than reconstructed from a broker's sheet, and the same lot can be reserved season after season instead of being resold to whoever bid first.

Alongside the estate lots, Musa sources a rotating group of Colombian micro-lots — Gesha and Wush Wush among them — for cafes that want a guest coffee that reads as a find rather than a filler.

A menu built around your volume, not ours

A wholesale program is a menu decision before it is a purchasing decision. The blend that carries a 300-drink Saturday is rarely the one a shop wants on its pour-over bar, and pretending one coffee does both is how cafes end up with a house espresso nobody chose.

Musa's approach is to fit the roast and the rotation to what the bar actually sells: a dependable washed lot as the everyday espresso, and the rarer separated lots as the rotating single origin. The Catatumbo washed lot exists for exactly that first job — balanced and sweet, shot after shot.

One supplier for the whole bar

Coffee is one of five categories Musa distributes. The others — alternative milks, syrups, equipment and everyday cafe supplies — arrive from the same company, which is the part most roasters cannot offer.

For an owner, the practical difference is the number of relationships to manage. A cafe that buys coffee from a roaster, milk from a broadline distributor, syrups from a third supplier and machine service from a fourth is coordinating four delivery calendars and four invoices for one bar.
